The Bird Song is worth the price of admission
There was some weird weather that night in the desert, but Jerry was pretty tired that night. The show is overall pretty slow with one notable exception-- an OUTSTANDING Bird Song that's driven by Phil through the middle section from 5:0)-7:00 or so. It felt like Phil was trying to rescue what he knew was a lackluster 6-song first set.
Second set Playing sandwich is the only other real jamming of note, but Jerry sticking Crazy Fingers in the meat of the second set really tanks the energy. Between Crazy Fingers, Drumz and Days Between, you've got a solid 30 minutes+ of really slow paced music. At least the LSD encore sent people home reasonably happy.
Sound is a solid FOB audience and is the better of the two sources on the archive. The next night's show is the best of the run, however.
